Now glory be to God!
By his mighty power at work within us,
he is able to accomplish infinitely more
than we would ever dare to ask or hope.

A new teaching tool

Disclosure:  I was not compensated for this post, however I did win a free membership to Education Cubes site in a launch contest that the creator of Education Cubes hosted.  The views expressed here are my honest opinion.

Mama Jenn had this really cool idea for using these cool photo cubes and making them into Education Cubes.

 I love:
  • That they are interchangeable with over 80 different sets currently available and more to come.
  • That they are affordable, the set of blocks (photo cubes) cost about $10-$15. Membership to the Education Cubes website is only $12, but is reduced to $8 through the end of the year.
  • That they are soft, bright colored
  • That my kids love to play with them.

These are a few pics of our first time using them. I printed the cursive alphabet because I wanted to expose my preschooler to those forms of letters to increase his recognition and foster the connection that the letter sounds are the same, no matter how they look.

Stacking them, very carefully.  (We have a lot of unstructured play/learning time in our house).

What this picture does not convey is that he is singing the alphabet song while stacking the cubes.

As with most things, with this kid, they end up being divided into football teams or good guys/bad guys.  And here, he even got the dog involved.

All in all, we love these Education Cubes. I think that they are very versatile. We will be using them with math with my older student, to help practice math facts in the near future. We also will be using them to help my younger son recognize the larger (than 10) numbers. And I have seen the insert cards for state capitals and plan to use those in the spring, when we are studying that topic. I like that these are hands on, safe, colorful and interchangeable. I think that we may devise many learning games from these, and in my opinion, that makes them an affordable and  worthwhile investment for our homeschool.

I love homeschooling.
