Random thoughts from a woman who wears many hats...Christ follower, wife, mom, working professional, friend, most of the time herbivore, sometimes raw foodist... trying to juggle it all, keep it together and look good doing it. Taking life one day at a time.
Now glory be to God!
By his mighty power at work within us,
he is able to accomplish infinitely more
than we would ever dare to ask or hope.
Ephesians 3:20

Book Review: Teach Your Own by John Holt and Patrick Farenga
As a newcomer to homeschooling, I really appreciated this book, primarily for the history of the homeschooling movement that it provided. I also appreciated the updated comments that Patrick Farenga added to the original text. It was helpful to see where progress has been made and what battles still remain. I also easily related to the stories of how the authors had been educated and employed in more traditional educational settings at first and how they discovered the benefits of homeschooling almost by accident. One of the blurbs on the back of this book refers to it as "the bible of homeschooling" I don't think I'd go that far, but it is definitely a helpful book that was interesting and easy to read. Anyone wanting to learn more about the homeschooling movement would benefit from reading this book.
